October/November update

Time Flies! We survived 2 field trips, two cross country meets, a couple of assembly presentations and Halloween! Thank you to those parents who came to Leduc #1 and helped with supervision. We are winding up our Waste and Our World unit in Science and we will be starting extensive work on the Six Natural Regions in Alberta in Social Studies. A travel Alberta slide show will culminate this unit. We will begin multiplication soon so start practicing those math facts as soon as possible. Refer to the strategies sheet I handed out at the first meeting. Students will be reading biographies followed by a summary on the Net books beginning this week. We survived a short week of skating and it went much better than expected with all of the renovations at the arena. The unseasonably warm weather helped with that. Thank you to all parents who came to the arena and helped with skate tying and supervision. We couldn't do it without your help. The students did a super job at our assembly and another superb job on the poem, "In Flanders Fields" at the Remembrance Day Assembly. The Green Team has been exceptional. We finished our month of delivering milk, doing announcements and popcorn sales so now we can really get to work. All of you are doing a great job signing the daily planners and doing the weekly P.O.W. s. Keep up the good work! Thank you to all parents who sent in food and treats to the Halloween party. I think it was a success. Thank you to Mrs. Young for donating pumpkins so that we could do our Pumpkin Math. Report cards go out this week, followed by Student led conferences. Those girls involved in floor hockey, our big home tournament is this weekend and I welcome any help in the concession on Saturday. Christmas is just around the corner. I'll be looking for help baking gingerbread cookies and cross stitching. I look forward to seeing all of you at student led conferences.
